The Religious Education Program is made up of an extraordinary team of dedicated volunteers who gladly share their faith with the children and youth of St. Dunstan’s Parish each Sunday.

The Religious Education Program supports and enhances the spiritual journey of the children of our parish in conjunction with the circle of family that provides the primary foundation for their spiritual growth. Gathering as a community in the celebration of Mass, instils our children with a sense of belonging and celebration. We want our children to know that, in addition to their family; they are surrounded and supported by the St. Dunstan’s faith community as well as the Catechist community as they embark on their spiritual journey.

Religious Education classes are held each Sunday morning from September to May. Though only one hour is spent in the classroom each week, our teaching staff spends a number of additional hours to prepare their lessons. As well, the Religious Education team welcomes the assistance of volunteers in the preparation of special occasions throughout the year, i.e. Christmas Pageant, First Eucharist and Confirmation Receptions.

Grades K to 8

First Reconciliation and First Communion are celebrated with Children who are age 7 or older. The Grade 2 Faith Formation Program is concentrated on the preparation for First Reconciliation before Christmas and for First Communion after Christmas.  If your child is older than Grade 2 and has not celebrated their First Communion, they will join the year level of their age group and the parents are given materials to do at home to prepare your child for First reconciliation and First Communion. The materials given are user friendly and offer an excellent opportunity for the parents to share their faith with their child during this time together.  First Reconciliation and First Communion of these older children can be celebrated anytime after the preparation is completed and can be scheduled personally with the priest.

There are also three sessions scheduled sometime in February and March for the youth and parents together and the sponsors are encouraged to attend as well if they are available. A 2-year session began in September 2016 with 14 participants from throughout the Diocese. We are delighted to have Doreen Cormier, Carole Dilworth and John Denning from St. Dunstan's. This program has been a tremendous gift to the life of the Diocese for many years and we are grateful for all those who are making this dedicated journey of faith and formation to assist in the mission of Christ in our local community.
